ART BEYEOND WALLS
Project
Architecture Concept Design
Date
May 2024
This architectural design project reimagines the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY with a focus on decentralization to enhance visitor experience. Recognizing the challenges of overcrowding within the museum, particularly for children, the design aims to foster interactive engagement with artifacts. Miniature replicas of museum pieces and crafted as tactile toy blocks, allow children to physically interact with and explore the artworks in a playful manner, encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation. Moreover, the integration of a playground adjacent to the museum in Central Park provides a dynamic space where children can freely engage with the blocks. Through this immersive experience, children develop a familiarity with the museum's collection facilitating a seamless tradition to appreciating the original artworks within the museum setting.
Ultimately, the design seeks to empower children to become active participants in their cultural education, inspiring them to revisit the museum independently and share their newfound knowledge with others, thus fostering a lifelong appreciation for art and cultural heritage.
