The proposed project, located at St. George's Episcopal Church in Central Falls, Rhode Island, seeks to address the housing needs of the predominantly Hispanic and immigrant community, with a specific focus on the Guatemalan population. Drawing inspiration from the Goshiwon typology in South Korea, which traditionally caters to individuals facing various life challenges, the design aims to redefine the living environment by introducing elements of openness, greenery, and community engagement.
The housing units are designed to accommodate a maximum
of three individuals (adults and children) on the ground floor and two individuals in the basement, acknowledging the family-centric nature of the community.
